You’ve heard about Indivisible’s daily impeachment series, right?

This is me, Meagan Hatcher-Mays: Indivisible’s Director of Democracy Policy, and the host of Indivisible’s Impeachment Daily series, where you can get daily breakdowns of Donald Trump’s impeachment trial.

Seriously, it’s a daily show. It’s on Youtube, Twitter, and Facebook, so you’ve got a bunch of ways to tune in.

So definitely subscribe and tune in to that! There should be buttons and links and things. Even my face might be a link… or at least this sentence is.

Ok…I’ll come out and say it: impeachment is a kind of complicated and overwhelming process, and things change minute by minute. And it can be hard to follow, even if you’re obsessively checking C-Span and Twitter as much as I do.

But even if you have been tuning in, it’s still pretty easy to miss things. So let me catch you up because a lot happened recently:

  • → Last Tuesday, the impeachment trial officially began in the Senate, and the Democratic House managers laid out the facts of the case against Donald Trump. They’ve presented damning evidence that Trump abused his power when he tried to pressure Ukraine into interfering with the 2020 elections, and that he obstructed Congress when he tried to cover it up.
  • → On Sunday, details from John Bolton’s new book leaked to the press, and Republicans are scrambling. His manuscript, which he submitted to the White House for review, contained further testimony that Donald Trump held up aid to Ukraine and covered it up. This is even more evidence that directly contradicts Trump’s narrative — and from one of his former closest advisors. The revelation caused Senate Republicans to panic. Case in point, Mitt Romney said yesterday morning “I think it’s increasingly likely that other Republicans will join those of us who think we should hear from John Bolton.” — a good sign for those of us who want to hear from witnesses.
  • → More votes on allowing witnesses and documents will happen this week! We need to keep up the pressure. As of now, the trial timeline is as follows: Trump’s lawyers wrapped up their arguments yesterday, and today begins the two-day question and answer segment where Senators get to ask questions of the House Managers and the defense. On Friday, Schumer is expected to offer a motion to call witnesses, including Bolton, and admit newly found documents.

Here’s the good news: I’m watching every minute of the impeachment trial EVERY DAY so I can break it down for you.

A few months ago, Indivisible launched our Impeachment Daily series on all our social platforms to bring you a day-by-day impeachment breakdown. Now, we’re covering the Senate trial from top to bottom. So check out our latest episode no. # 55, and each one after that.

Our game plan:

  • Us: Indivisible is paying for ads, tools, and events, along with the resources and organizing to push for a real impeachment trial! Did we mention we’re a DAILY show? OK, just checking. Also, check out our resource for more info on our strategy!
  • You: Give your senator a call. Seriously, we’ve made it really easy: just text “IMPEACH” to 977–79 and we’ll connect you to your senator and give you a script to follow. Trust us, every single call helps keep up the pressure to ensure they commit to a fair impeachment trial with WITNESSES. Witnesses at a trial — sounds crazy, I know.

Alright. Let’s do this!

In solidarity,
Meagan Hatcher-Mays, Indivisible Team
